THE LEGISLATIVE SESSION WHEN NOTHING (GUN-RELATED) HAPPENED

THE SHORT VERSION:

The Minnesota Legislature adjourned last night at midnight. Few gun control OR Second Amendment rights bills were introduced, and none passed. Unless Governor Dayton calls a special session, there will be no law changes until 2017, after the next election.

THE LONG VERSION:

At midnight last night, as required by the Minnesota Constitution, the 2015-2016 legislative session ended. Unless Governor Mark Dayton calls a special session, there will be no new lawmaking until January 2017.
From a Second Amendment standpoint, the 2015-2016 biennial session was a blowout victory: we passed suppressor legalization, emergency powers limitations, fixed carry at the State Capitol, got permit reciprocity with North Dakota, and clarified interstate purchase of long guns. There were NO gun control laws passed.
